Refined Soundtrack

I’ve granted props to this soundtrack before albeit it was prior to my time it really is one of the most refined soundtracks of cinema in my opinion. You don’t hear meaningful sentimental music like this anymore.

The tracks Daniel and Kumiko as well as Moon Spots (The song Kumiko traditional dances to in the temple scene near the end of the film) are quite refined. I always liked the soundtrack haven’t purchased it though which brings to mind I might just do that. I believe it’s the song after Daniel and Kumiko that plays during the tea ceremony scene.

Which also in my opinion is one of the most well shot scenes in cinema history. That and when Kumiko’s character spreads the rice into the sea as per Okinawan tradition when a sailor for instance was going out to sea which is an actual cultural practice. In reality Okinawa is much more traditional than mainland Japan just as some of the smaller Islands of Hawaii are more traditionally based than let’s say Oahu that is of course highly commercialized in comparison HOWEVER the island is cracking down on all of the tourism and commercialization which is great news because the cultural roots were being uprooted by the residual affects of colonialism for far too long.

I recall as a child learning the tea ceremony. It is an elegant practice and cultural tradition.
