“A spirit that wouldn’t surrender.” A Little Princess Trailer

Warner Bros Official 2.

One of the most treasured publications of children’s humanities turned film at least twice over and certainly one of mine. How distinct it is to me as a young adult now why the story of the protagonist throughout my life resonated with me as a child and certainly once I became a young Woman. It really was ahead of the times in it’s subject matter as well as addressed issues such as being royalty at heart, gracious, giving, bullying, envy, colorism, slavery (child labor in this case), war why there probably shouldn’t be any, the have the have nots, the abuse that often goes on in boarding schools as well as such establishments still to this day, challenges, loss, maintaining a sense of dignity despite inhumane treatment, courage, hope, adults who genuinely care about the well being of disenfranchised children/young Girls, and of course spirit. I probably read the book a hundred times as a child through young teenager, and probably saw the 1990’s film at least several times.
