AAPIHM- Hawaii & Princess Kaiulani
Since we have been on the subject of Hula which is steeped in our heritages therefore clapped with a “Oh Okay you didn’t like my coconut bra and hula did you? Alright how about this? I’ll dance the whole thing in it no changing outfits this time because no one dictates anything to me. Now sit your dagan down and get your trifling troll self off my social media ” thus reloaded it with a firm message on the fact of the matter. If anyone perceives our dances, attire, and practices as “sexual” or “offensive” it reveals a lack in them. The end case closed.
While in the midst of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month reaching a it’s close it is an opportune time to speak on Princess Kailulani and the history of Hawaii that fell into the hands of the colonization or rather conquering of America. There was a biopic about the herstorical Princess that fought to keep Hawaii an independent Nation which came to no avail. She passed away at the age of 23 by what numerous referred to as a “Broken Heart” grieved by the loss of the Hawaiian land to colonization having the title of Royalty removed upon being conquered. There was a biopic of her life in 2009 aptly titled “Princess Kaiulani.”
