American Samoa can teach us a great deal about Pandemic’s and perhaps how to dodge them. Anytime there is any sort of crisis the marginalized are among the most concerning as any among the most vulnerable. The reason for this is where marginalization exists there is the most risk for annihilation as a result of the minute numbers in comparison to larger populations. Indigenous communities, Refugee communities, the Elderly, Children, and the disenfranchised hold a position of being jeopardized if a health crisis like this get’s out of hand. Perhaps we can gather some information from how American Samoa avoided extermination at the hands of the Pandemic of 1918.
