And to think us Indigenous peoples were and labeled as “Barbaric” when no Indigenous culture traditionally treated our 4 legged inhabitants like this. None. Even when we had to make food out of them out of pure sustenance to survive there was and in some areas still have to in order to survive there is always respect and sacredness to the animals. We didn’t and don’t torture and or exploit them. Our teachings have always taught living things are sacred and to revere them as such. These honestly barbaric practices need to be ceased. If one of us isn’t free no one is … that appertains to 4 legged or 2 leggeds. This maltreatment is wrong period. It’s no different than abusing your Mother or allowing that type of abuse to occur. It’s everyone duty to speak up.

And albeit the film ,Dances With Wolves, was of course historically inaccurate artistically it was awesome and made some valid points. I will end this post with a quote from the film that rings true in reality,

“Who would do such a thing? The field was proof enough that it was a people without value and without soul, with no regard for Sioux rights. The wagon tracks leading away left little doubt and my heart sank as I knew it could only be white hunters. Voices that had been joyous all morning were now as silent as the dead buffalo left to rot in this valley, killed only for their tongues and the price of their hides.” Dances With Wolves
