Blackfishing and Asianfishing

I saw a viral post the other day of Ariana Grande was most recently accused of Asianfishing as she also has been accused of Blackfishing in previous years. If anyone were to glean from photos over the years from when she started as a kid to now visually it’s definitely Rachel Dolezal territory appearance wise. Honestly I thought she appeared the best without all of the superficiality and “exotic” appearance. She’s not the only one, influencers and typically white acts have been notorious for it in recent years because the executives probably instruct them to for views, streams, etc. Albeit Christina Aguilera is part Latina in today’s world during her “Stripped” era she probably couldn’t don that aesthetic now without an issue as we live in a very different world. There was always debate around her but because she is part Latin (as if the surname Aguilera wasn’t obvious enough) during the Latin invasion era there was a little more lead way of public opinion.

However moving from that when it comes to the problem of Black and Asian Fishing otherwise for actually ethnically mixed people like myself it does make people place you under even more of a microscope more than others. It can make for perplexing scenarios because the public is so accustomed to people blackfishing and brownfishing they could think an ethnically ambiguous person is enacting the same, especially on social media where not much is known about someone other than social media posts thus a hotbed platform exists already for photos to be altered, filtered, and changed drastically all of the time by users. On social media users will dig for anything and everything to discredit or bring others down picking at every little light change, dress, supposed inconsistency, word, phrase, etc — therefore when you have people blackfishing and brownfishing or posing in general it makes the way valid people are seen difficult. We have to work that much harder to be taken seriously and respected. Aside from Black and Brown Fishing taking opportunities away from people who naturally fit that model it sets in motion a precedence to not give someone who is valid a chance based on the toxic chaotic nature of social media that exists anyway. There are countless posers in some way on social media that anymore people don’t know what to believe — even if it’s a valid individual. People I don’t think take social media as seriously or meriting anything as they used to because of all of the posing and stupidity on it. I know I don’t having dealt with BS many times from it like many users I don’t go by anything anyone posts on social media. They could be saying, photo shopping, video edited anything, buying followers, likes, etc. When you have dealt with con artists before you kind of can spot poser BS quickly.

Okay the first young Girl who claims she’s 35% Black which isn’t surprising and delving into why. In previous generations in America people of color would pass for white if they could so they wouldn’t face discrimination or in slavery days hoping to avoid slavery therefore people could have a mixed Black or Brown Grandparent thus wouldn’t be aware of it until they ran their DNA along with corroborating paperwork which is usually the best way to conduct an ethnic background search. When the Gentleman asked whether she appeared black or not. I honestly can say yes I can see it. This is why you don’t lie to your kids about who they are because they won’t ever be aware of their ancestry and where they stem from. The Nikitta person is valid to some extent I have to say (aside from reaching too much openly as far as color and race) as Hispanics we are mixed. The only Latin peoples who are not mixed from the genesis of the various Latina ethnicities are Spanish as in from Spain and even in today’s world most are mixed with other peoples. I have to add as well both ethnicities (Vietnamese and Mexican) there is a great deal of color-ism issues in the communities to this day perhaps even more so than America. There is a great deal of caste and classist issues associated with that therefore that could be where issues like that come from in a person.

The Tan Lives Matter Girl without all of the optics I can see it a bit and she appeared great the way she was without the over tanning and makeup. 0.9% Jamaican (if her claims are true) would mean someone within the closest generation wise would be about 5 generations or more was 100% Jamaican. I’ve entailed a chart that people use to figure in their American Indigenous Blood Quantum. Of course it factors the same as any other ethnicity. If 1/64th is 0.015 we’re looking at possibly7 or 8 generations back roughly someone was 100% Jamaican.

Although that part is valid the obvious reach and extremity isn’t, that’s just too much. Again don’t leave out who you are to your kids because then when they discover the truth they will have an identity crisis.

People like myself are a blend of many peoples of color and some not, of an 8th Black ancestry, and seldom in recent years especially have I tanned that dark or even close to it because that takes some time at the beach… in a climate close to the equator typically where the sun is at it’s most extreme. I’ve been that dark years ago but that extent of sun exposure is not healthy for the skin of any ethnicity. That is definitely tanning bed coloring she acquired which she readily admitted otherwise which is even more damaging to the skin.

The informed opinions are quite succinct on this. The fetishization, supporting sexual violence of us, total pedo-bating as the young Woman put it quite well, etc etc is fully on point. When 1 in 4 Asian and or Pacific Islander Girls will be or have had sexual violence in some form inflicted upon us same with Black something is extremely wrong as to why this violence against Black and Brown Girls/Women is continuing to occur. For Black Girls and Women the number is 1 in 3. Issues like this are the reason. Fetishization in my opinion is racism and supporting stereotypes which then leads to violence against Black and Brown peoples Girls as well as Women especially. Yes, it is irritating when beings who aren’t oppressed attempt to reach for it and act like they’re oppressed to take our struggles yet somehow make it theirs when it’s not viable. Excellent videos and articles on this atrocious phenomenon.
