Much of the epidemic of Sex Trafficking within the region of Southeast Asia was acerbated by UN Peace Keepers that highly contributed to the abominable brothels, Bar Girls, etc. This was following their presence required after the mass slaughter ordered by Pol Pot in Cambodia particularly in the 1970’s. An equivalent transpiration occurred in Haiti involving what were suppose to be “Peacekeepers” stationed by the United Nations during the country’s unrest. This also occurred in Bosnia following their own genocide. In Rwanda they were mostly non-existent but that’s a post I’ve spoken on before. Rest assured where there are acts of genocide, collapse of democracy if it ever functional to begin with, an unsteady region, collapse of infrastructure, natural disasters, a vulnerable people, etc etc there will be predators who will take advantage of this wholly. There will be those who will find a way to make a profit off of the travesty and exploit it to the fullest extent.

Albeit an estimated 2 million people were deceived by the offending Regime then consequently mass murdered by the Khmer Regime until recent years it was not recognized as Genocide and therefore no true accountability ever held as Pol Pot died while awaiting trial. Prior to that this mishap was based on grounds of politics, finance, and amalgamate as conferred well in this documentary on the subject.

Where there is war, tyranny, genocide most regularly there will be sex trafficking, sexual violence, and criminals more than willing to facilitate these transgressions of Human Rights and dignity. The Genocide of Cambodia is indeed a forgotten war and genocide. Works such as Half The Sky enlarge on this as well. Where there is war, political pandemonium, or genocidal acts the bodies of Girls and Women will be used as battlefields as Attorney Amal Clooney stated in her address to the United Nations on the matter of the Yazidi genocide.
