Casting Caution
Upon reading the usual trades it’s not unusual to come across castings that are improbable. When a casting reads “15–20 year old Girls” for a “Girl group” working supposedly with a couple of major labels but upon checking out the social media of the cast poster barely a 100 followers, no blue tick claiming they’re some A&R for major labels, with a self done default photo, and a basic website anyone could create no and no. This is one way kids can end up exploited. I thought about reporting it to the platform, hopefully until or if it’s removed nobody falls for that thinking it’s legitimate. It’s that old saying “If it sounds too good to be true it usually is.” Some castings are way too obvious to be legit. I have said this for years, if I’ve never heard of you and nobody I’ve ever dealt with has heard of you AND OR you have a certain known set of characteristics then my response is “Yeah right NEXT” even legitimate people you have to have that attitude if they don’t come correct as apparently they’re looking for something that has nothing to do with talent or career related in those sideways cases. If young Women like myself had a dime for every time we were run some game on or attempted to be duped we’d been quite wealthy. I feel for these kids who are so desperate for a dream they’ll fall for anything or accept crumbs from anyone that keeps them spinning their wheels.
