Elvis
--
Having seen the Elvis biopic it must be said it is a bare-boned reality of the unscrupulous music business. The realm is riddled with con artists and criminals therefore it is no unusual occurrence to encounter a character such as “Tom Parker” in that sphere. Colonel Tom Parker was not a Cornell nor a Parker, he was a former solider of Dutch descent by way of Amsterdam labeled a “psychopath” by military psychiatrists. His real name was Andreas Cornelis Dries Van Kuijk.

They stemmed from poverty and lack of privilege, they drew from Black music and placed their own sophistication to it forging appropriation. The myth of his being a racist towards Black Americans or anyone was dispelled because that is actually who he grew up with, acquired the styles of music from, had in his inner circle, etc. He grew up in what was referred to as “Colored Town” with the people in poverty. Elvis was an artist ahead of his time. The banned body and hip movements he actually acquired from the Pentecostal Black tent revivals he attended as a youth. He worked with Black Musicians especially upon his being granted creative control of designating the musicians for his Las Vegas show. Ergo the Sweet Inspirations.

The outburst that occurred towards Parker during a Vegas stint which resulted in canceling of the show in which he stated he had valid grievances and had become knowledgeable of them shortly prior to his performance that night. It goes without speaking of it is a sorrowful biopic and conveys the pitfalls as well as deceitful realm that space is that numerous have become casualties of. He was a once and a lifetime talent. Anyone that trashes or attempts to rival his merit are envious because they don’t have it, people have to be born with it, and those who trash it never will, never could be on that level talent or anything else wise in any way. Not many people have it but the ones that do it pales in comparison to the other, exposure doesn’t constitute as having it, many would like to but few actually do. It’s a shame he didn’t have a longer life.
