Historical Accuracy of Girls and Women

This would’ve been the attire the Princesses of Disney would have worn had they been historically accurate figures. The powerful point of the video is highlighting the lives of real Girls during the displayed eras. This includes the actual historical figure ,Pocahontas, who was born as ,Matoaka, later known as ,Amonute. She would’ve only been around the age of 11 when she met John Smith, had no romantic relationship with Smith and this is not to mention she was made use of as a political pawn later on. The actual life of Pocahontas (a distant cousin of mine through Moytoy’s line, Beloved Woman Nanyehi Ward, also through basically extinct Powhatan line — in present day known as Chickahominy) — was quite tragic much like the people as covered in an episode of Adam Ruins Everything.
Let’s put it this way not only is the original tribe extinct decimated by colonialism, genocide, and the Eurocentric “educational” systems but our language also perished along with the destruction of the tribe. There’s fewer than 1,000 Chickahominy people left. Closer to 950 to be more exact.
The language associated with us is Algonquin but the language of Chickahominy itself is gone. When you put it this way not only Indigenous people but Chickahominy people were livid when Disney’s version of Pocahontas was released and rightfully so because we are so marginalized. Additionally interesting fact the tattoos carved into the skin of tribal Women much like Maori people had not only significance but were chiseled into the skin as opposed to merely inked onto it. This left the skin with grooves rather than superficially based.
I have tied this post in with Earth Day because we believe traditionally the earth is our Mother therefore Women especially are from the earth thus must be treated as such. This has been urgently so for us marginalized Girls and Women who are the most vulnerable in many respects hence to no surprise the most affected by violence that jeopardizes us. It is due to this we must be supported, protected, cared for, and upheld with the utmost respect equally so. Otherwise much like if the earth is not treated properly we’ll be obliterated entirely.
