In my personal experiences I don’t know what’s worse being stalked by a male or a female especially when you’re heterosexual and have no interest in any sort of relationship. Regardless of the gender of stalkers they just give those who they prey on that slimy feeling like “Eww get away from me.” Like that predatory creeper pedophile rapist sleazy vibe of “Gross get away.”
This is why harassment and stalking should be taken very seriously. In places like the UK it is taken more seriously than most countries. Also it’s not unheard of for serial stalkers especially if they’re male to use a deranged female to keep tabs on the subject of stalking because after awhile male stalkers ascertain that utilizing a deranged female seems less menacing to those they prey on but honestly some of the worst stalkers are female. They can be heinous in their own way. In short they just use them for their nefarious agenda to get to the person they’re stalking and to alienate anyone they see as a barrier.
Self defense as stated by the prosecutor entirely true. I ended up having to obtain a license to carry because aside from the issue’s constant harassment, following, and threats I began having openly violent criminals (violent sex traffickers, buyers, and the like) begin to directly contact me. Once I did that it ceased. I knew how to defend myself before that but didn’t have a license to carry almost immediately that I obtained a license it stopped. Now I just have the occasional mentally unstable but not the violent dangerous type come about.
Also let us not forget the name of Rebecca Schaffer who was murdered by her stalker at the age of 21.

It really is that simple, when someone says stop point blank directly to you that’s it leave that person alone.
