GENEVA (7 April 2021) - The Roma minority this year celebrate 50 years since the first World Romani Congress in 1971.

It is no coincidence that International Roma Day and Holocaust Remembrance Day are on the same day. In fact along nearly 75% of Roma residing in Europe were murdered during the Holocaust leading many survivors to migrate to the United States. Honestly to this day probably the safest country for our peoples has ironically enough been America. Elsewhere Roma people have been persecuted, enslaved, murdered, and despised. Illnesses such as COVID has yet again uncovered another obstacle for Roma people and the already existing inequality set into place throughout our history. euronews composed a stark article on this issue today.
