I was saying this last night on my instagram about the scene from Kirate Kid 2 where Daniel breaks the ice blocks it is such a bad a$$ scene.

That and Myagi vs Chozen’s clique.

and of course

Daniel VS Chozen

Warner Bros Official 2.

True fact the way Myagi’s character defended his family’s home is actually how real life self defense and fighting is. All the stylistic stuff is for show, real fighting is very practically carried out. It takes twice as much energy to swing, showboat and probably never make contact with those you’re trying to defend yourself against than to make very specific movements that make effective impact. The less energy wasted the better. As aforesaid martial arts was made for defense only therefore those who practice it won’t have to fight. All the boards and ice breaking tricks are for show to display strength. Most I ever broke was 2 1/2 in one move when I was a kid but I didn’t learn it for that or for competitive purpose, I did so solely for self defense because I was a petite kid from a multi ethnic background and a hearing impairment therefore yeah you better know how to defend yourself. It can be a harsh world out there and you have to be prepared for it if need be. The main premise of true martial arts is character building, discipline, respect for self and others, strength, etc not go out looking for a fight but to have the capacity to defend oneself if it comes to that. Interesting fact you do have to be aware of the amount of damage you enact on an opponent (attacker) because even if an attacker is trying to physically or sexually assault you if you showed “excessive amount of force” that can land the defender in hot water which is unfortunate that should even been be considered legally. Therefore the main objective is to get away when attacked not pound an attacker into a bloody pulp after they’re knocked out for example or close enough. The whole “Fighting to death” thing was an ancient practice not a whole lot if any people do it anymore because there’s really no need to with the way society and laws are. Grey area wise again is being physically attacked but to be mindful of the possible ramifications if any.
