Legends Die Too Young

Watching footage of legendary performers who died far from when they should have and from what was completely treatable. Always such a waste. They always have so much but in the end so little. They almost always die too young & alone. Nobody should be dying in their 40’s, 50’s let alone 20’s or 30’s. Whether we’re talking about Hendrix, Joplin, Elvis, Jackson, Prince, all of them musical & performance geniuses.. I know everyone says that now everyone in the biz is a legend or icon now. Hell often referring to themselves as legends they’re not, sorry they’re just not they don’t have that thing about them that’s going to last, that makes you give a damn about what they’re carrying on about, that kick, that undeniable fogo, longevity, there are those who emulate the legends but will never be them not by a long shot talent or otherwise. They don’t really grab your attention unless it’s antics, stupidity and one up BS and that’s only momentary marketing. James Brown was musical legend, Whitney Houston was a legend, aforesaid Joplin was a legend, Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, all those people. I’ve flat out told people in the entertainment field (not art because there is a difference) there unfortunately is left next to no one in the last 20 years or more that has appeared in the mainstream I’d work with, none. There’s probably 2 artists I’d still work with if given the opportunity the rest of them no. The real talent now is in the Indie scene and the Theater scene not in the Hollywood machine that honestly needs to crash and burn. I will say Bruno Mars albeit it seems not much is heard of him as of late definitely has that thing and definite potential to be a legend. Don’t know if he realizes it but he just does honestly. Everything is digital now so anyone can sell massively or appear to but we won’t get into that, break records and do that doesn’t mean it’s quality anything. Sorry that’s just a fact. By my late teens/early 20’s I knew where that scene was headed depressingly for someone who was all about it & trained constantly strived to be in it only to want no part of it because it’s all fake non musical little if any talent marketing nonsense. It’s all marketing, politics, and cheap rip off air fillers, to be honest. I mean listen to the legends, watch the legends, and truthfully say anything in the business in present day pars up — it just doesn’t. 🤷🏽‍♀️

There’s a reason the Grammys every year are ever dwindling in ratings. I believe it was Terry Lewis that once said “There will never be another (legends he went on to list), there just wont be. There will be those who emulate them.”
