Still such an inspirational and powerful play as well as film.
Perry’s works were created to address issues that were often left disregarded in the Brown and Black communities particular. He took a great deal of heat over the years for the characters and presentation of his characters but much of this was to make a point wither about overcoming, how not act, why, etc. Whatever criticism he drew for his many works of Madea I always found it cathartic, empowering, raw, and innovative.
