Upon finally getting to view the first few episodes of ,Mata Hari, via Amazon Prime it does show albeit in a semi glamorous light that indeed sex work is anything but glamorous. Like any sex work for the most part the drive into it is often based on desperation for money and or a life of abuse. There’s almost always a violent story somewhere within the life of a prostitute or sex trafficking victim. Both will encounter violence of some kind in their lives be it domestic, sexual, emotional, mental and so on. As high as 90% are estimated to have endured sexual violence as children and as high as 75% to 85% will encounter violence while in the life. There is always some sort of abuse that has occurred or will occur in the lives in the life. Survival of the fittest basically. Essentially the lives of those in the life has never been nor is a pretty story whatsoever. High end or not you’re still a piece of meat to buyers and the trade as a whole. Anyone is fooling themselves or entirely deluded if they think otherwise. There are more opportunities out there than selling one’s body to survive and for money.

Amazon Fire TV

I honestly do not recommend it for any survivors of sexual violence or sex trafficking because the first few episodes at least are fairly graphic of rape, domestic violence, etc. As aforesaid there is nothing glamorous about prostitution. It is no wonder she also became a spy for Germany during World War I, survivalism is the only life Mata Hari knew.
