A narcissist puts themselves at the center of everything, every scenario they make for excitement or attention is all about them, they can’t stand not to have attention. They have to have it every day, every moment, every second practically. They’re crippled in life, they can’t live without narcissistic supply, attention, saved, or given credence about something because typically throughout their lives people know they’re fully of crap so like the life sucker they are after they’ve sucked their last victim dry they have to find new ones or go back to their sources of enablement. Saturday Night Live had a satirical character that embodied this by the name of Penelope. Penelope was an annoyance like a gnat that had to be the center of attention and try to “One up” everyone even though the character failed miserably at it.

The writers of the character were making a point NOT to be like that because it makes people not want to be around, deal with, communicate with or have anything to do with such. It’s because of narcissists horrendous personality traits aside from being nauseating they’re ill mannered, show offs, talking loud saying nothing, obnoxious, has to be the center of attention, self absorbed, shallow, have little to no empathy for others that doesn’t involve them or trying to gain something out of it, abusive in general, etc they often die alone when their lives are over. They leave places and people with a sense of gladness that they’re gone because they bring nothing but problems everywhere they go and pretty much everyone they interact with at some point. Basically they dwell in a basic narrow self absorbed realm that no one else matters but them. It’s their world and everyone else just lives in it essentially. It’s like one saying went around when Trump lost the election to give an example, Live your life in such a way that everyone doesn’t celebrate when you leave.

That sums it up pretty well.
