Fascinating book, story and film.
Currently in 2020 Somali piracy is no longer as rampant as it was around a decade ago. Interestingly enough in the area of West Africa it has become much more prevalent. There is a fair amount of piracy that occurs in Latin America as well. Both nuances of piracy in the 2020’s in these different regions have reportedly unveiled more violent behavior towards the hijacked than the Somali piracy partook in during its day. It has been reported the rise of piracy in these newer areas is based more so on criminality and narcotics than poverty alone.
