I was conversing with someone that I am not a fan of the word “Tolerance” especially when speaking on the subject of Human Rights. It was quite a popular sentiment in the 2000’s also to some extent 2010s in reference to Human Dignity and Equality. I will further explain why, if the definition were read in layman terms — “tolerance” essentially means to put up with something or someone because it has to be.

Beside that fact some of the most hateful bigoted suppressive beings are the very ones to wield the expression of “Tolerance.” Honestly, who would want to merely be “tolerated” as opposed to accepted and treated equally? Equality is a much more appropriate term. As ,Paula White, has been known to say “I’d rather be accepted than tolerated.”
