Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark

So back in my day I hadn’t heard of this series to be honest. Goosebumps sure but Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark were more for preteens/teens and young adults as opposed to Goosebumps was definitely more for kids. I saw the documentary by the same name of the series of books. It basically came down to the white bread parents of “I am the authority of artistic merit because I have none and I’m scared crapless of the Satanic Panic that doesn’t actually exist” brigade that basically attempted to shut down the series from publication. Back to everything isn’t your business especially art, free speech, or artistic merit. It was coming off of the whole Satanic Panic era in which caused hundreds of American citizens to be placed in prison for crimes they didn’t commit. Which is a whole other post by itself. Therefore the question is what is worse? Ruining innocent lives and or essentially committing financial abuse by trying to deny others their right to freedom in making a living for themselves because you think you’re in the “right” based off of you didn’t like what had to be said? OR allowing artistic merit and thus not taking the lazy way out by actually shielding your own snowflakes and how usually are hellions behind closed doors instead of trying to legislate morality you probably don’t even carry out yourself? Case and point the Farwell situation that made itself known to the public today. As one gentleman said, It’s almost always the ones that cry about morality so much that do the most damage and are the most amoral in their own right.

Therefore I’m actually watching the film to see what it’s all about. 🤷🏽‍♀️
