I have made this point before by usage of this 1994 song by Collin Raye titled ,”I Think About You.” It places Girls and Women’s Rights as well as humanity into a perspective many have forgone if not entirely buried if ever existing in the first place.

Being in Survivor Leadership, a Delegate, Policy Shifter, Activist, and just as a young Woman I’ve made a point using the lyrics to ask of Men especially when it comes to the disparagement of Girls and Women throughout the globe, “What if it were your Daughter, Mother, or Sister? What if you looked at it from that scope? How differently would you respond or become involved?” I don’t care how gutter someone is unless they’re just an utter psycho pedophile, rapist, or sex trafficker it flips the whole narrative if they were ever part of the problem. A group of us survivor activists actually had a gracious elder Homeland Security Officer say to us during a Human Rights summit surrounding the issue of Sex Trafficking, Sexual Violence, etc (I won’t reveal his name for privacy reasons and based on his instrumental work to end the horrific criminal enterprise of Sex Trafficking) he said to us with tears in his eyes, “It is such an honor, I see all of you I think of my daughter. All of you could be my daughter.” Matter of fact any real Man or person in general has expressed that same sentiment of any and all walks of life when spoken to of these issues. As I’ve said before now that is all of our business be it Sex Trafficking, Gender Based Violence as a whole, Rape, Female Genital Mutilation, Domestic Violence, Child Marriage, Stalking, Sexual Harassment, Harassment, Poverty affecting the Feminine, etc etc. If it’s amoral it’s amoral. Anyone who does not truly believe otherwise is immensely lacking as a human being I would say because honestly ignorance alone doesn’t cut it as that’s a conscientious choice to believe in opposition to that fundamental fact of Human Rights.

“Every time I see a woman on a billboard sign
I think about you

Saying “drink this beer and you’ll be mine”
I think about you

When an actress on a movie screen plays Lolita
in some old man’s dream
it doesn’t matter who she is
I think about you

When I see a pretty woman walking down the street
I think about you
men look her up and down
like she’s some kind of treat
ooohhh
I think about you

she wouldn’t dare talk to a stranger
always has to be aware of the danger
doesn’t matter who she is
I think about you

eight years old
big blue eyes
and a heart of gold
when I look at this world
I think about you.

And I can’t help but see
that every woman used to be somebody’s little girl
I think about you

Everytime I hear people say
it’s never gonna change
i think about you
like it’s some kinda joke
some kinda game

girl I think about you
when I see a woman on the news
who didn’t ask to be abandoned or abused
it doesn’t matter who she is
I think about you

eight years old
big blue eyes
and a heart of gold
when I look at this world
I think about you
and I can’t help but see
that every woman used to be somebody’s little girl
I think about you

eight years old
big blue eyes
and a heart of gold
when I look at this world
I think about you
I think about you oooohhh
I think about you
baby I think about you.” Collin Raye I Think About You Lyrics

I highly advise anyone consider the works of “Half The Sky” and “A Path Appears” to get a real grasp onto the 100s of Millions of Girls as well as Women World Wide whom face Human Rights atrocities on a Global scale.
