Take Your Place
Such a powerful scene and words from 2006 Madea’s Family Reunion that was a play turned successful film. Particularly now in this time of a world crisis these words prove to be so true of our world as a whole.
As a well known Indigenous scholar once said to a room full of Indigenous youths “Don’t be a stereotype.” Our ancestors and really any background of color or solely disenfranchisement went through way too much to be the worst example of what a group consists of. Be it our ancestors endured slavery, genocide, or discrimination we owe it to our ancestors to have dignity, pride, and respect. As said last night where are the real Mother’s and Grandmothers out there to get a reign on their grown kids that act like they do not have any sense at all? Back in the day that was how it was. If you acted up or were out disrespecting others Mothers and Grandmothers of most communities would set those in line that didn’t have any respect or reverence obviously. If more upright respected sound people in a community would do that now our world wouldn’t have all the problems it does and people wouldn’t act or live raggedy the way in which too many do. It’s called personal accountability and holding people responsible for their actions even if that person to do so is yourself.
