The Lack of Development Program

I was flipping through Netflix while conditioning and skimmed across a “documentary” show that I recall was advertised on Instagram as well as a casting platform for the purpose of “creating an ‘iconic’ K-pop group to push K-pop worldwide".. nevermind K-Pop has been world wide approaching a decade but I digress. I recall the casting, read it, wasn’t impressed, and continued scrolling. Per my initial impression it would be the preview of the show alone was 🐎💩 and I will relay why.

Not solely the language was a dead giveaway these kids are being screwed over but the whole outfit was a joke. Let’s begin with the language, dead giveaway of being screwed over:

“We had over 100,000 submissions.”

“We hone their skills that WILL make them K-pop stars.”

“They have potential.”

“Many K Pop Stars go through SIMILAR development programs.”

“At the end of the program we begin ELIMINATIONS.”

“We are trying to create an ICONIC global K-Pop group” (of various colors.)

Followed by the opening was the selected kids performing for not a concert but what appears to be an Americas Got Talent type tv show anybody can audition for (nevermind nobody watches cable anymore)….and that was solely the preview. The entire presentation was reminiscent of the Runaways.

I’ll breakdown why talent or aspiring talent anybody says those words to you R-U-N don’t listen to crap they have to say. Anytime any states they are absolutely going to make you a star particularly when they’re wielding language stating they have a “similar development program to K-Pop stars” BUT obviously don’t have the ties to carry you there on their own they are full of crap. Your career will go nowhere, in their stating that they’re not considering the over population of the K-pop pool, factors of what is in at the moment, cultural shifts, etc.

Why are they under the impression it’s professional to announce how many submissions (that it’s highly doubtful) they received? That is usually the red flag of somebody selling you an illusion of fame that won’t be. That you were supposedly so special they picked you out of “hundreds of thousands of submissions.” There is a term for that… it is called grooming.

The color aspect… listen, I came up around AAPI and fairly distantly am myself. I’m aware of the market. The audiences aren’t going to be favorable to a white, black or brown meddling in their style. That is their style you’re a colonizer in that if you’re not AAPI.

The comment of “We are trying to make Kpop go world wide” I don’t comprehend where that joker has been or what turnip truck he was under the impression people have fallen off of but K-pop has been worldwide, those 2 or 3 groups have already had their iconic stint not longevity the world doesn’t seek another to replace them or have space with them. Nobody will remember them in 5 years because that’s the name of the business. They won’t grow past that.

The “elimination” aspect…if these “program runners" really had the connections they are sideways portraying they wouldn’t throw away energy and likely funds they scammed these kids into paying on a head shaking “popstar academy.” They would be legitimate managers and agents, discussed their picks, and would be obtaining work for the group they had already picked out.

I’m not going to speak of the ego tripping of the choreographers that nobody has heard of or their power tripping. That is a dead sure giveaway and the fact it was based in Los Angeles when LA as far as the industry goes has flatlined. The entertainment sector in Los Angeles has plummeted over 50% the past few years. The major heavies have moved out of LA. Nothing worthy of anything is in Los Angeles anymore.

As for the “Development Program” portion. Dear God in heaven talent or aspiring talent A “DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM” is NOT how you break into the industry particularly if the program isn’t run by anybody of household name. You break into the industry by who you are associated with and your network period the end case closed. None of the fools that are famous in the 2020s were trained, none. That aside already said K-pop is a fleeting fad already on its way out why would you put your energy into a career that won’t be for long if whatsoever? And lastly the whole Americas Got Talent “gig” opening… what in the ever hell? ANYBODY can audition for those! Why waste your braincells or talent going on those shows that do not pay, again if the people pushing you on these stupid docuseries were really who they said they would be pushing your career on paying gigs or gigs that have a pay off to your career in some form NOT on contest shows.

Last but not least this “Program” head female cursed at a member of the supposed group saying something like “Go ahead b__” in reaction to the young Girl performing well in rehearsal which the kid laughed in flattery undoubtedly believing this person was some important figure they’re not. It’s called moving of the moral and self worth gold post. If I were a parent that red flagged as “Exploiter watch out for her. Those are the sorts that will pimp your kid out to Hollywood types while selling them fame that won’t be.“ The world is well aware this is factual.

From somebody that’s been screwed over, misled, and straight up conned umpteen times like many gifted talent, Kids of talent please seek representation from trustworthy legitimately connected to the industry managers and agents preferably SAG, Equity, etc franchised. Don’t waste yourselves on these posers that were acquainted with somebody at Netflix through backdoor deals to have a 🐎💩 documentary on Netflix selling you an illusion that won’t be. At most you will have a millisecond of pseudo fame but you’ll be obscure to the world they touted they would introduce you to. I’m speaking from much experience on this, nobody screws with me any longer like that because I’ve seen it, heard it, been sold it, and on the other side of it. There is something to be said for growing up people don’t jerk you around as much. These types of con artists target inexperienced kids with that crap because they are aware they are young, naive, innocent particularly if from parts of Asia, and won’t question them. I’ve spoken of this previously but if I had a nickel for every “Oh I play golf with so and so” or “I’ll make you a star/famous/etc” or similar sentiment like innumerable talent I’d be a millionaire off of that. The brushes I’ve had with the entertainment industry and types like that is precisely why I didn’t deal with it for a long while as in over a decade because it seemed like it was and is 🐎💩 to me more often than not. It is further why I’m selective about who I work with, roles I have my agent or manager push me for, gigs I choose, who I communicate with, or anything else. If it’s not of worth anything to my career I don’t want to hear the conning 💩.
