Ticket Prices… Let’s Be Real
I was speaking with a loved one this evening about the legends we have seen perform for as minute as $75.00 maybe 90 something at the most with great seats front row seats even then went to look up ticket prices for acts of today it was a hell no I wouldn’t pay any $250 and up for anyone who aren’t originals anyway and boring in comparison to the real thing, won’t be where they are in 5 seconds, and take themselves way too seriously. The reason that system is milking it for all it’s worth it is because they’re aware it’s not going to continue past a certain point it’ll be someone else in 5 or 10 years that’s the max if that mainstream career anymore so they have to keep the cash cow flowing as long as possible. If acts have a 5 to 10 good run that’s a long time in that realm anymore. They don’t have the longevity that older acts did and those who remain among us. There really isn’t anyone newer out that will be in the mainstream at the top of the game long term and really hasn’t been in the last 20 years. Basically they’re just not that great in comparison to the originals. Think of all those who have come and gone in 20 let alone 30 years, too many to count. It’s a great deal like being a classical dancer if dancers get a 20 year career typically beginning anywhere from 18 to 23, that’s considered past the typical as it’s often closer to 15 years max. It’s probably closer to being an elite gymnast who have a career of about 10 years. There really aren’t Elvis’s, Beatles, Tina Turner, Prince’s, Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey’s, Jennifer Lopez’s as far as performers go, Lenny Kravitz’s, etc they don’t have that kick and feel but then again we live in the era someone can be an influencer, tiktoker, some industry instragram th_t, or even a Babies Momma and from there signed as a pseudo artist for a label but as Nicki Minaj recently stated in an interview “When I turned on the radio as a kid you heard talented people. When you turn on the radio you hear popular people.” She had a point, if people are popular and quite young typically anyone can become a superstar… for a short time then onto the next.

I did a casting one time not too far ago just to see what would happen. I sent in for a casting for a major label signed Girl Group, they needed a couple of replacements. In the casting notice it basically read auditionee’s didn’t have to send in audio or video of vocals so long as you had a head shot that was fine. That says a great deal about the music business now. At the most minute level in the 2000’s and late 90’s people had to in the least be able to perform but now not even that. What someone’s appearance is, how many followers they have, who they know, how much hype they have, ice they have, how much of a body count they have, and to hell with whether they know anything about music or not or if they can perform or not.
