They Not Like Us- To State
To state the sister of Dorothy Dandridge upon her Oscar win being snubbed for her outstanding role and fortitude of Carmen Jones.
“You ought to have figured they wouldn’t choose us.”
Having watched the the Moana live adaption filming clip it is that second of — ::eye roll:: O that’s gonna go over real well with AMERICAN and factually raised Pacific AAPI (sarcasm.) That is why their audience has ill sentiments of the likes of Disney, nearly nobody respects their brand, and why every authentic Brown and Black sings “They Not Like Us” across the earth because of corporations such as theirs that constantly grant cultures the finger. That is why practically every Pacific Islander was forming a lynch mob and voicing their dismay at Disney to their choice of the live adaptation of the Stitch cast. Disney enacts this on every single minority film. Pocahontas was a garbage dumpster ablaze for example. It totally bastardized the real Pocahontas. No revelation they screwed up casting of a live remake of a film of Pacific Islander pseudo culture and it stands to reason why they didn’t throw a large publicity announcement per usual on this latest joke of a patronizing pseudo “cultural” film. I am cognizant of from castings they shove the authentics to the rear in the role of dancers and at most supporting roles. They likely were cognizant with the climate we are in they would receive backlash from the Pacific raised AAPI diaspora if they threw a large scale announcement. Nobody would be happy about it. They deserve the backlash because they have a propensity for insensitivity to the real born and raised Brown and Black diasporas. If they are not granting handout roles to communistic actresses that support a communist government that commits genocide onto minority populations, they are hiring barely Hawaiians merely by blood to play full blooded Hawaiian roles, recreating the same storylines to live adaptions to a T with crappy over done CGI, or they pick those not raised nor born into the diaspora over authentic talent that is of the area. Blood does not qualify as authenticity particularly if it doesn’t stem from matriarchal lines culturally speaking and furthermore they intentionally pick those raised in a colonist white country for an AAPI PACIFIC role their castings read were mandatory. They enraged Blacks in 2009 for their portrayal of Tiana in which many Blacks and Creoles sensed the role was not solely white washed but was stereotypical. It is as though they go out of their way to have a blind attitude against minority diasporas and particularly in the “They not like us” era we live in. I have no support of their latest white wash that isn’t based on a cultural story anyhow. I like any who wasted our lives to audition were under the impression they were searching for a PACIFIC Native not a barely blooded raised in a white colonialist country and shoving authentics in the back instead of considering real AAPI’s whatsoever. Disney is trifling to speak the least. That is why Ricky Gervais ripped into Hollyweird afore reposted several years prior at the Golden Globes. The undeserving lead in my informed opinion isn’t my “role model”, would never be my role model coming up, and I doubt Pacific stemmed AAPI’s will be more merciful gauging by their reaction to 2020’s Stitch. Disney would be well served to cancel that crap and begin at the drawing board besides what studio in this day and age films a live replica of an already told story, no press release of their cast, no trailer 2 years ahead of it’s release? Something amiss there. Disney if I were your CEO I would cancel and recast — you elitist d bags everybody is sick of. How about sticking with your casting notices in which people like myself had to answer 20 questions to be pre screened for while many of us that wasted our lives and talent to audition may not be full blood but unlike your pick of non-American and technically culturally non Pacific feeling themselves too much already that actually grew up in it, familiar with the language, and factually give a crap about the diaspora for our rights. This is why real AAPI, Browns, and Blacks abhor Disney.
