Wu Zetian

A fascinating look into the life of the Emperor of China during the 600's AD. She has been the only Woman to hold that title. Some paint her as a brutal ruler others merely a ruler of her time. It’s easy for others to look at leaders of the past and point them out as barbaric. However understand it was a brutal time, all rulers were like that only a few have been picked out as the “Most brutal” or even “evil.” Some of the prejudicial talk about Wu Zetian had a great deal to do with her being a Woman and a Woman leader at that in a world that even now Women leaders are not supported or thought well of. As someone who has Asian ancestry, studied the various cultures, and having been exposed to numerous Asiatic cultures in my life I can certainly attest to the following. When there is a culture that Girls and Women are highly undervalued nor appreciated certainly a Woman ruler in the culture would be despised if not entirely scrutinized. Even in China today still Girls are not desired, albeit the law banning more than 1 Girl per family has been reprieved. From this dislike is where shocking stories of finding newborn Girls in pipes from being flushed down the toilet upon birth stemmed from. This is not to mention the over crowded ghastly living conditions of orphanages specifically for Girls and or disabled within the country. What often is not mentioned of Zetain is she highly esteemed diplomacy therefore she was not entirely the tyrant historians often portrayed her to have been. Neither is it often mentioned her contributions to Women of the country.

Certainly throughout history Women had their place and still do in the perspective of those who by no means want a Woman leading anything.
